LMS001 – LMS Orientation is the mandatory introductory course that every trainee must complete before enrolling in or starting any other training course.

It is delivered in compliance with MARINA STCW Circular No. 2021-10, Revised Guidelines on Training and Assessment of Seafarers by Distance Learning and E-learning, which requires that learners be properly oriented on the Learning Management System (LMS) and be technically and procedurally ready before undertaking distance learning or e-learning.

By the end of this orientation, the trainee will be able to:

  • Navigate the LMS — log in, access enrolled courses, and use the dashboard, activities, and resources.
  • Identify the minimum hardware, software, and internet connectivity requirements for distance learning and e-learning.
  • Follow the prescribed rules on attendance, participation, progress tracking, and completion of online activities.
  • Comply with the assessment, identity-verification, and anti-cheating requirements applied to online assessments.
  • Observe the standards of conduct, data privacy, and academic honesty expected in a virtual learning environment.
  • Use the technical support and helpdesk procedures for reporting and resolving LMS issues.

Note: Completion of LMS001 is a prerequisite to all other courses. No trainee shall be granted access to a training course until this orientation has been successfully completed.
